VinFast, Vietnam’s electric vehicle maker, has laid out its overseas growth plan for electric scooters, naming the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Malaysia as its first priority markets.
In a statement issued last Saturday, the company described the move as an important step in its wider global expansion and in the build-out of its “green mobility” ecosystem. VinFast said it intends to speed up its international e-scooter rollout starting with these five markets, which it considers high potential due to heavy urban transportation needs, favorable demographic trends and a growing shift toward more sustainable mobility options.
As part of the strategy, VinFast plans to launch a range of battery-swapping electric scooters abroad, including the VinFast Flazz, VinFast Evo, VinFast Feliz II and VinFast Viper, with additional models to follow. The company said each offering will be tailored to local operating conditions, travel habits and customer preferences in each country.
On the commercial side, VinFast is aiming to establish “hundreds” of retail outlets across the five markets by 2027 to support longer-term growth. Its expansion approach is designed to remain adaptable and efficient, combining dealership networks, service workshops, financing options and supporting energy infrastructure. That includes cooperation with V-Green on charging and battery-swapping systems.
VinFast said the push overseas is backed by its strong performance at home. In 2025, the company delivered 406,453 electric scooters in Vietnam, which it said secured it the top market share in the country’s scooter segment. With more than 10 models spanning multiple categories and a mix of charging and battery-swapping options, VinFast said its scooters have become a popular mobility choice among Vietnamese customers.
Heading into 2026, the company also announced it had completed a master plan for three separate e-scooter lines—mainstream, premium and sport—and introduced seven new models in the premium and sport ranges. VinFast said the launches strengthen its competitiveness in design, performance and product differentiation.
The company added that its large-scale production capacity, pricing strategy and broader ecosystem—supported by battery-swapping services from strategic partner V-Green—are intended to help accelerate transportation electrification across Southeast Asia and beyond.
“Expanding our e-scooter business globally represents a strategic pillar in VinFast’s long-term development roadmap,” said VoThiCam Tu, Managing Director of VinFast E-Scooters Overseas Market. She said the company has carried out detailed research, coordinated with local partners and prepared plans covering dealer expansion, product lineups and service networks. Through partnerships with established dealers and strategic collaborators, she said, VinFast aims to offer smart, sustainable and accessible electric mobility solutions and support greener transportation in multiple markets.
VinFast noted that the Philippines is the first market in its international e-scooter expansion. The company has already partnered with five major dealers in Luzon and Mindanao—Maverick Racing Factory Inc., MotorCentral, New Nemar Development Corp., Supremebike Corporation and ARC Trading—to roll out a nationwide sales and service network. VinFast said these partners are experienced companies that have committed to green transition initiatives.
In recent years, VinFast has also been developing its green mobility ecosystem in the Philippines, Indonesia, India and other markets by working with local partners, as well as strategic partners such as GSM, an all-electric taxi operator, and V-Green.
